Punxsutawney is an old Onondaga word meaning, "There is no website here, yet a domain name resolves properly on this URL to this server."

Many people don't know that the Onondaga survived by building websites for profit. When the white man arrived, he wanted to trade the Onondaga shiny beads, but the Onondaga resisted. There is no mention of the Onondaga in the historical record after that point.

Scholars speculate the Onondaga got tired of dealing with white men, because the white man did not bargain faithfully, and instead kept saying, "But, like, dude, bead?! Beads are so frickin cool. Back in my hometown, people would be all like, see that guy with beads? He's probably rich and a sensetive lover."

But, the Onondaga were unimpressed, and said, "Well, do you have anything other than beads? Like, you know, maybe a carrying trade fueled by a medium of exchange?"

And the white man responded, "Beads are beadtastic!"

Eventually the pain of rolling their eyes into the backs of their heads crippled the Onondaga, who fell to the ground foaming at the mouth and twitching.
